SalamAir Launches Direct Muscat–Sylhet Flights

SalamAir has launched a new direct scheduled service between Muscat International Airport and Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport, giving travelers a nonstop option between Oman and northeastern Bangladesh. The inaugural flight operated on September 1, 2026, and the route is expected to continue as a recurring service.

What Happened

The new route was announced in July and began operating on September 1. SalamAir initially said the service would operate three times a week, although the precise operating days should be confirmed directly with the airline because published secondary schedule information is not fully consistent.

The inaugural service departed Muscat and arrived at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet. SalamAir now lists Sylhet among its destinations and shows flight availability between Muscat and Sylhet through its booking channels.

The airline describes the route as its first direct Muscat–Sylhet service. It has also been described as the first scheduled service by a foreign airline to Sylhet in the current period. That wording needs some context: foreign airlines have served Sylhet before, including Flydubai service that ended in 2018. The significance of the launch is therefore the return of foreign-airline scheduled service after that earlier period, rather than the first foreign airline service ever operated to the airport.

What This Means for Travelers

For passengers traveling between Oman and Sylhet, the main change is the availability of a nonstop journey. Travelers who previously needed to connect through another airport may now have a more direct option, depending on their dates, ticket availability and onward plans.

The route may be particularly useful for passengers whose final destination is Sylhet or the surrounding region, since flying directly to Osmani International Airport can avoid an additional connection and transfer. It also gives travelers more choice when comparing available itineraries from Muscat.

The launch does not mean every journey between Oman and Bangladesh will be operated nonstop, and it does not guarantee daily availability. SalamAir initially announced three weekly flights, so travelers should check the specific date they want before making arrangements. Published operating-day information may vary, and schedules can change during the early stages of a new route.

Passengers should also check the full terms of their booking, including baggage allowances, airport requirements and any onward transportation needed after arrival in Sylhet. A direct flight removes a connection in the air, but it does not necessarily eliminate the need for ground travel to a final destination.

What Travelers Should Do Now

Travelers considering the route should first check Muscat–Sylhet availability on SalamAir’s official booking channels for their intended dates. Confirm the departure time, operating day and whether the itinerary is shown as a nonstop service before paying for the ticket.

Because this is a newly launched recurring route, verify the booking again before traveling. Check directly with SalamAir and, where appropriate, Muscat International Airport or Osmani International Airport for any changes affecting the flight. The exact schedule should not be assumed from a third-party listing alone.

Allow sufficient time for airport procedures and confirm the documentation required for the journey. Travelers should also review baggage rules and connection plans if they will continue beyond Sylhet or Muscat on a separate ticket.

If the preferred date is unavailable, compare alternative dates rather than assuming the route operates every day. Passengers who have already booked should monitor their reservation and use the airline’s official channels for any operational updates.

What Is Confirmed

SalamAir launched a direct scheduled Muscat–Sylhet service on September 1, 2026. The inaugural flight departed Muscat and arrived at Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport.

The route was initially announced as operating three times weekly and provides a nonstop travel option between Oman and Sylhet. SalamAir currently lists Sylhet as a destination and offers Muscat–Sylhet flight availability.

The service is SalamAir’s first direct route between Muscat and Sylhet. It is also described as the first scheduled foreign-airline service to Sylhet after an earlier period of foreign-airline operations, although foreign airlines have served the airport previously.
