Riyadh Air Cancels Manchester–Riyadh Flights Amid Riyadh Airport Closure

Source-checked update: This article brings together information checked against primary sources and independent reporting available at publication time. Full source links are listed at the end of the article.

Riyadh Air has cancelled its Manchester–Riyadh services on October 13, 2026, amid the closure of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The airline has identified both flight RX417, from Riyadh to Manchester, and flight RX418, from Manchester to Riyadh, among the cancelled services.

The disruption is continuing until further notice, but the airline has not confirmed when the Manchester route will resume. Affected passengers have been offered free rebooking within 21 days or a full refund.

What Happened

Riyadh Air’s official travel update says King Khalid International Airport was closed and lists the two Manchester services as cancelled on October 13. The airline operates Manchester as a scheduled route from Riyadh.

The airport closure follows serious incidents at King Khalid International Airport, with restrictions continuing to affect travel to the airport. The verified airline notice does not provide a final date for the cancellations or confirm when normal operations will return.

For travelers, this means the immediate issue is not a routine timetable change. Passengers booked on the affected Manchester–Riyadh services should treat their flight as cancelled unless Riyadh Air provides a new, specific update for their booking.

What This Means for Travelers

Passengers booked on RX417 or RX418 for October 13 should not travel on the assumption that the flight will operate. Riyadh Air has offered two remedies: free rebooking within 21 days or a full refund.

The rebooking option may help travelers who still need to make the journey, but the airline has not confirmed that the route will return to its normal schedule during that period. Travelers should therefore check the available replacement options and the conditions attached to their booking before accepting a new itinerary.

Those who no longer wish to travel can request a full refund under the airline’s stated arrangements. The timing and process for receiving the refund may depend on how the ticket was purchased, so passengers should use the original booking channel or contact Riyadh Air directly for instructions.

The confirmed cancellations affect the Riyadh Air Manchester services named in the airline’s notice. There is not enough verified information to say that all Manchester Airport flights, or all travel between the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia, are disrupted. Travelers with other airlines or different routes should check their own booking rather than assume that the same cancellation applies.

Passengers connecting through Riyadh should take particular care. Because the disruption is linked to King Khalid International Airport, a cancellation or change affecting one part of an itinerary may have consequences for onward travel. Travelers should confirm the status of every sector of a booking before going to the airport.

What Travelers Should Do Now

First, check the latest status of the booking directly with Riyadh Air using the airline’s official travel-update and booking channels. Have the reservation details available and confirm whether the ticket is listed as cancelled, rebooked or awaiting further action.

If the flight is affected, decide whether free rebooking within 21 days remains suitable. Before accepting a replacement, confirm the proposed travel date and the status of the Manchester–Riyadh route. If the journey is no longer practical, ask for the full refund described in the airline’s notice.

Passengers should not travel to King Khalid International Airport if Riyadh Air has specifically instructed them not to proceed. Travelers departing from Manchester should also verify their individual flight status before setting out, as the current notice does not establish a wider airport closure or a blanket cancellation of all Manchester services.

Keep copies of the booking confirmation, cancellation message and any communication with the airline. Travelers who booked through an intermediary should contact that provider as well as checking Riyadh Air’s latest instructions, since the booking channel may handle changes or refunds.

Finally, check directly with the airline, Manchester Airport and any relevant travel authority before departure. The situation remains current, and no confirmed end date has been provided for the disruption.
